Hi, this is Vinnie Bacon, the clean money candidate running for Alameda County Board of Supervisors. I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.
The next year will be a particularly challenging time for all of us, including public servants in our community. We will have tough decisions ahead, and I’m up for the challenge. As a City Councilmember in Fremont, I’ve been working with our staff to make sure that the City is doing all it can to protect our residents and our businesses during this crisis, like setting up a coronavirus testing facility. I’ve also been looking at what needs to be done at the county level to better prepare us for another pandemic or natural disaster.
One of the biggest line items in the County’s budget is health services. This crisis has made the need for a robust and well-functioning public healthcare system even more clear. And while first responders, doctors, nurses and public health officials have performed fantastically to keep Alameda County’s death toll to fewer than 100 people to date, it has also pointed out many of the existing problems with the Alameda Health System. There are staff shortages and staff has had trouble getting enough personal protective equipment during the coronavirus crisis . If elected, I’ll work hard to resolve these problems by reforming the AHS.
After earning more votes than any other candidate in the March primary, I’m looking forward to growing my campaign for the November election. But what does campaigning in the middle of a pandemic look like? Like many of you who are suddenly facing uncertainty in your life, we’re adjusting our campaign one day at a time. For the time being, we won’t be able to knock on doors or go to events, so I hope to use videos as a way to communicate with you all.
I also want to ask for your help. We need volunteers who can make phone calls in the fall and host Zoom events with your friends and colleagues to introduce me to them. If you can help, please visit bacon4supervisor.com/volunteer and sign up.
As mentioned, I’m the clean money candidate. That means I’m not taking money from corporations, political action committees or lobbyists. Instead, I’m asking for grassroots donations of any amount. If you can make a contribution, go to bacon4supervisor.com/contribute/ today.
I would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have. Please contact me on Facebook or through my web site, www.bacon4supervisor.com or via email at email@example.com.
Friends, stay safe, stay strong, and look out for one another. Thank you.
